About

Enemies who shoot straight, and fight like a squad.

Fairer gunfights, smarter enemies, same Cyberpunk.

In vanilla, the game rations how often enemies are allowed to hit V, so many of their shots miss on purpose, and gunfights can feel like enemies are just spraying at walls. Combat Tactics & Training (CTT) makes the fight fair for both sides: enemies aim like they mean it, use grenades more, and work together with real squad tactics.

CTT is the light, vanilla-feel option: no damage changes, no health changes, nothing new to configure. Your difficulty setting still decides how much hits hurt.

At a Glance

  • Fairer aim: fewer "pity misses", while moving, dodging and cover still protect you
  • Rank matters: veterans and elites shoot better than street punks
  • More grenades: more squads use them, and they throw a little more often
  • 12 squad tactics: flanks, covering fire, regrouping and more
  • Vanilla damage: hits hurt exactly as much as before
  • No settings, no menus: install and play

Training: Fairer Aim

The game makes enemies wait between hits on V. CTT keeps the waits you earn by playing well and trims the ones that are just there to go easy on you.

  • Movement still protects you: sprinting, sliding, vaulting, dodging, driving and crouching still make you harder to hit, just a little less than before
  • No more low-health mercy: the big "go easy on V" rule under 40% health is gone; a smaller one stays under 20%
  • Quicker to react: enemies take less time to fire again when you step back into view
  • Better aim by rank: from a small boost for regular enemies up to a large one for bosses and MaxTac

Grenades

  • Up to two enemies per squad can throw at the same time, and squads wait less between throws
  • Regular gunners who never threw grenades now do (trash-tier enemies still don't)
  • Aldecaldos and 6th Street get frag grenades; in vanilla they have none
  • Hard / Very Hard grenade sets, bosses, fuses and grenade damage are unchanged

Tactics

  • Grenade flush: when you hide behind cover and an enemy throws a grenade, its teammates get ready to fire the moment you break cover
  • Covering fire: one enemy fires at you while a teammate moves between covered positions
  • Coordinated flank: one enemy keeps you engaged from the front while another takes a side route, without crossing its teammate's line of fire
  • Delayed flank: the flanker waits for its teammates to draw your attention, and moves while you're looking the other way
  • Last known position: after losing sight of you, one enemy watches the last spot you were seen while a teammate goes to check it
  • Reload coordination: enemies take turns reloading, so at least one teammate is always ready to shoot
  • Reposition after exposure: an enemy that keeps fighting from one cover switches to another, especially after taking hits there or drawing your aim
  • React to your reloads: when you reload, an enemy briefly pushes closer, but only if a teammate can cover it
  • Defend against rushing: if you charge in, the nearest enemy falls back toward cover while its teammates fire on you
  • Pressure from different angles: enemies spread around you, so a single piece of cover can't block every enemy's view
  • Retreat and regroup: a hurt or isolated enemy falls back toward its allies, who cover it, then rejoins the fight
  • Stagger attacks: melee enemies take turns attacking instead of all swinging at once

Every tactic has a short cooldown, so fights stay readable rather than chaotic. Tactics never take over enemies in cutscenes, dialogue or scripted scenes, companions, or bosses, and enemies always get the chance to act on their own first.

Compatibility

  • Not compatible with Combat Evolved, or with other mods that rewrite the same enemy AI or hit rules
  • Works with mods that only change damage, health, weapons or loot
  • Want to see the tactics at work? Each one writes a line starting with [KetCTT] to the CET log (bin\x64\plugins\cyber_engine_tweaks\gamelog.log)

Feedback

Enemies too sharp, not sharp enough, or a tactic that looks odd? Tell me in the comments, and say which tactic and where it happened. A copy of the [KetCTT] lines from your CET log helps a lot.
